The issue of adoption is very dear to me, as I am adopted.    My mom and dad have shared my adoption story with me, and I feel that it shows that there is a plan for each and every child whether biological or adopted.  My parents tell me how many things had to fall perfectly into place for our lives to come together.  My arrival into this world was about 7 weeks early, taking everyone by surprise, and if not for my adoptive family coming to my rescue in the middle of the night, who knows where I might be now.  

     My goal is to help promote adoption to families and provide financial support for our local families hoping to adopt.  Adoption forever helps and changes a child’s life, as well as the entire family’s life.  About 1 in 9 families are closely affected by adoption.  I’m sure each of you know someone involved in adoption in some way. The average cost for adoption in the US is over $30,000.  Advocating for tax credit increases and raising funds for families, alongside state and national organizations in adoption will help bridge this financial hurdle for many families.  

     Providing resources and encouragement for expectant mothers considering adoption is also so important.  These expectant families are so courageous and I am forever thankful for mine!  I am Kaitlyn Tanner and so proud to be on this mission of helping all involved in the process of adoption!
